Head of Events & Programmes

Reporting to the CEO, the candidate will lead, manage and drive the overall coordination and administration of all aspects of academic programmes/events including planning, organising, leading and controlling both the events and programme activities at SPECTRUM both locally and regionally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan and manage the delivery of the overall events/academic programmes and its activities in accordance with the goals of the organisation
  • Engage working alongside the board in developing and executing a strategic plan
  • Oversee, manage and develop multi-faceted events at our business club
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Set annual targets and put in place an operational plan to grow and scale the programmes to meet impact and sustainability objectives
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the programmes
  • Implement a programme evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the programmes and to identify areas for improvement
  • Communicate with members and stakeholders to gain community support for the programmes and to solicit input to improve the programmes
  • Liaise with other managers to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of programme delivery
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different programme activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure that the programme operate within the approved budget
  • Perform any other duties that may be required from time to time

  • Requirements:

  • Degree with at least 8 years of working experience at mid-level in a related discipline
  • Skills in programme development, planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Strong analytical and conceptualisation skills and the ability to think strategically
  • Experience of working in a diverse team and the ability to build good relationships with people at all levels
  • Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organisation and to create new opportunities
  • Well-developed operational management expertise including; sound financial-management, commercial acumen and good business development skills
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness.
  • Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organisation
  • Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organisation
  • Excellent organisational, analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead and facilitate team and project planning, coaching and developing individual and team resources
  • Overseas travel may be required at a later stage when it is required
  • Able to meet and ensure accurate deadlines
  • Ability to be creative and take the initiative
  • Effective prioritisation and negotiation skills coupled with the ability and determination to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate viable solutions and make recommendations and or resolve the problems
